By its ability to capture intricate maxillofacial hard tissues with sub-millimeter spatial resolution, it has revolutionized the process of diagnosis in dentistry. Significantly reducing the radiation exposure in comparison to conventional CT scans, it has found its place in all dental specializations. Compact design, as it has, makes it suitable for small clinical practices as well. This article illustrates how CBCT can help in establishing a diagnosis by providing additional information in various conditions of general and specialized dentistry.
