Including the views of M─ori and Indigenous staff and scholars from a larger project ^Te T─tua o Kahukura ̄ which explored M─ori and Indigenous postdoctoral capacity building, this article provides an overview of M─ori staff and students reflections on the role of MAI Te Kupenga in supporting M─ori and Indigenous scholars throughout their doctoral journey. Key areas of focus for this article are (i) the implications of systemic racism for M─ori and Indigenous scholars; (ii) the effectiveness of supervision for M─ori and Indigenous scholars and (iii) the role of MAI Te Kupenga in providing positive support mechanisms for M─ori and Indigenous scholars studying in mainstream university contexts %K M─ori and Indigenous doctoral scholars %K MAI Te Kupenga %K Indigenous post-graduate education %K higher education %U https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/1177180119828065
