%0 Journal Article %T The Effect of the Events aiming at Community Service Applications to the Social Skills and Self-efficacy of Teacher Candidates %A Murat £¿etinkaya %J - %D 2018 %X Among the teacher training goals, the values such as social responsibility consciousness, self-confidence and cooperation hold a significant place. The impact of the teachers having these types of values on their own students is inevitable. In this respect, training of the teachers having advanced social skills and well enough in teaching should be trained. The purpose of the study is to search the effects of the events aiming at Community Service Applications (CSA) to the social skills and self-efficacy of teacher candidates. In the study cause and effect searching pattern has been used to evaluate qualitative and quantitative data. The interviews with the teacher candidates have been used in collecting qualitative data described doing content analysis. In collecting quantitative data a 90-item social skills scale with internal consistency coefficient 94 of Cronbach alpha and a 29-item self-efficacy scale with internal consistency coefficient 86 have been used. In analyzing the scale applied to the teacher candidates at the beginning and end of the study as pre-test and the last-test, a one-group pre-test and the last-test pattern has been used. The obtained data have been analyzed using ¡®¡¯t-test for dependent samples. From the analysis results of quantitative data, social skills and beliefs to self-efficacy of teacher candidates have been identified at meaningful level on positive way, (p<0,05). In analyzing the qualitative data it has been identified that the increase of social skills and self-efficacy beliefs does not only depend on Community Service Applications (CSA). It has been concluded that while a well-planned CSA has positive contributions to social skills and self-efficacy beliefs, a badly planned CSA doesn¡¯t have a positive contribution in developing of these kinds of skills.
