%T On the problemsof translating dramatic works from the Azerbaijani language into Russian

%X The process of translating Azerbaijani drama into Russian began at the beginning of the twentieth century. (The translation of Azerbaijani drama into Russian was started at the beginning of the twentieth century). This process intensified in Soviet times. The article is based on the translations of the plays of Jafar Jabbarli, Huseyn Javid, Mirza Ibrahimov, Huseyn Mehdi, Ilyas Efendiyev, Elchin, Anar. The features of the translation of dramatic works from the Azerbaijani language into Russian are also noted. An analysis of the rich material of translations and artistic features of the works of the founders of Azerbaijani drama Mirza Fatali Akhundov, Najaf Bek Vezirov, Abdulragim Bek Hagverdiyev, Nariman Narimanov, Uzeir Bey Hajibeyli was conducted. Since the overwhelming majority of these plays were staged, in the presented samples the work and skill of the playwright and the director complemented each other. Undoubtedly, these translations are not of the same artistic quality. As representatives of different language systems, Russian and Azerbaijani languages combine the search for features of adequacy, meaning and image, intonation and rhythm. The ability of two languages to express themselves on stage requires a high level of compactness, brevity and poetic diversity. Without a doubt, the perfect translation of a work of art is impossible. However, to get closer to this ideal, the idea, artistic mastery, and the expression of the aesthetic vision of the author are of great importance.
