With prevalence of logic science in subsequent centuries, the linguists¡¯ interests in definitions increased. Although there is no definition of sentence/remark accepted by all Arab linguists, great majority of classical linguists of the first period defined sentence/remark as ¡°an independent word group consisting of at least two words and stating a full judgement¡±, and they stated that both terms have the same meaning. Great majority of last epoch classical linguists, who said that sentence and remark are not synonym, defined the word groups conveying properties of ¡°full judgement and being independent¡± as remark, and the local word groups in i¡¯rab such as condition, oath, relative, adverbial and adjective clauses which are not in the same category as sentences. In modern era, however, there were linguists adopting both views above; and they only used sentence as ¡°an independent word group consisting of at least two words and expressing full judgement¡±; and remark for the rest of the word groups whether attributing any bonds between them or not.
