%0 Journal Article %T IDENTIFYING PRESERVICE PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS' VIEWS ON SCIENCE EDUCATION %A Hakk£¿ £¿lker Ko£¿tur %J - %D 2019 %X Many concepts have been included to science course content with the launch of 2018 science education curriculum where primary school teachers teach science at 3rd and 4th grades. In particular, skills such as entrepreneurship, engineering and design, innovative thinking are mentioned first time in Turkish science education context. There are research reports revealing negative experiences of primary school teachers' about teaching science. This study aims to identify 57 4th grade preservice primary school teachers' views about science education. Participants are registered in primary school education program in a private university in Ankara, Turkey. Towards the aim of the study, participants are asked to write a self-reflecting paper about their needs, insufficiencies, and the topics they want to learn about science education. The study is a case study of qualitative research methods. Data was analyzed through document analysis. Analysis showed that views gathered in three main categories: 1) Views about science teaching, 2) Views about academic development, 3) Views about teaching.
