%0 Journal Article %T Gamified Creative Activities Used in Social Studies Courses: An Action Research %A Ya£¿mur Tu£¿ba Bayram %J - %D 2019 %X The aim of the study is to examine students¡¯ products created according to topics of sixth grade social sciences taught by gamified creative activities in the first semester of an academic year and evaluate this process according to students¡¯ views. In accordance with the overall purpose, this study seeks answers to these questions: ¡®How are students¡¯ products created in sixth grade social sciences courses taught by gamified creative activities?¡¯ and ¡®How are students¡¯ views about sixth grade social sciences courses taught by gamified creative activities?¡¯ In this study, action research method was used because it mentioned about bringing a different approach to existing system and reflected students¡¯ collaborative works created both inside and outside the classroom by extending learning environment. Moreover, students actively participated in the study. The researcher directly participated in the environment that sixth grade social sciences courses were taught by gamified creative activities and observed students and their products. Study group consists of 20 students (8 girls and 12 boys) who attend sixth grade in a private school in Sakarya and one researcher who is a teacher at this school. As data collection tools, observation, document examination, interview and reflective students¡¯ diaries were used. According to students¡¯ readiness level, gamified creative activities were designed and implemented. The study concluded that gamification elements are productive and efficient in social sciences courses.
