%0 Journal Article %T Game Addiction in University Students and Its Relationship with Personality Traits and Academic Performance %A F£¿rat AYD£¿L %A Hasan B¨¹LB¨¹L %A Tarkan TUN£¿ %J - %D 2018 %X In this study, it is aimed to investigate the relationship between digital game, personal characteristics and academic performance by focusing on university students. The survey was collected from 446 students who are still attending their university education. Data were collected with a scale consisting of items including the behaviors and emotions before, during and after the game are statistically grouped with the help of clustering analysis. As a result of the conducted clustering analysis, the research sample is divided into three groups. Groups formed; game addicts (addicts), high tendency to be addicted (candidates) and conscious actors (conscious). In the comparison analyzes carried out among the emerging groups, no difference was found in terms of income, age and weight problem. On the other hand, it was found that approximately two-thirds of the members of the addiction were men. Again, it was seen that there was a difference between the groups in terms of meeting in the digital environment, age of having the first phone and number of activities performed weekly. As for the academic performance variables, as the dependency increased, the study hours and general academic averages decreased.
