%0 Journal Article %T THE MEDIATOR ROLE OF ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT IN THE EFFECTS OF ORGANIZATIONAL COMMUNICATION ON ORGANIZATIONAL SILENCE: AN EMPIRICAL RESEARCH %A Tamer KILI£¿ %A £¿hsan SAYGILI %J - %D 2019 %X The aim of this study is to investigate the mediator role of organizational commitment in the relationship between organizational communication and organizational silence behaviors of the employees. Organizational communication is the independent variable, organizational commitment and organizational silence are the dependent variables of this research. In that context, the sub-dimensions of organizational communication are ¡°vertical communication, knowledge sharing and managerial behaviors¡±. The organizational commitment is examined with the sub-dimension of emotional commitment. Organizational silence is studied with ¡°acquiescent/accepted silence, defensive silence and prosocial silence¡± sub-dimensions. With this purpose, an empirical study was conducted on 324 employees working in aircraft maintenance centers in Ankara. The results of the study revealed that organizational communication affects emotional commitment of the workers in a positive way. On the other hand, it is proved that there are significant negative relationships between ¡°organizational communication and organizational silence¡± and ¡°emotional commitment and organizational silence¡±.
