%0 Journal Article %T Postpartum Psychosis %A Mehmet Emin Demirkol %J - %D 2018 %X Many females experience a wide range of owerhelming emotions such as excitement, happiness, full of expectation, as well as anxiety, frustration, confusion, sadness, guilt during prenancy and postpartum period. The postpartum period makes them highly vulnerable to various psychiatric disorders. Postpartum psychosis is one of the psychiatric emergencies that show an early and rapid onset, a profound emotional disorder, delusional beliefs, sudden mental changes. The frequency of postpatum psychosis is 1-2 per 1000 births. It usually occurs 2-4 weeks after birth, but it may start to appear within 2-3 days after birth.
