%0 Journal Article %T The Branches And Affiliations Of The Kurdistan Forward Society %A Bilal Altan %A Ercan £¿a£¿layan %A Mehmet Akba£¿ %J - %D 2019 %X The Ottoman State withdrew from the World War I by signing the Armistice of Mudros. Making the use of the chance provided by it, the occupations realized soon after in the Ottoman territories by the winners of the war, especially by England, had created a new political space. This new political space in the uncertainty of the fate of the Ottoman State created separatist ideas in different ethnic groups including Kurds.This was a period in which among some of the intellectuals and notable Kurds, especially those of living in the center of £¿stanbul, Ottomanism declined after the armistice, in spite of the fact that Kurds before the armistice internalized the Islamic and Ottomanism identity. Within that period, the mentioned groups played a role in the establishment of the Kurdistan Forward Society, which embodied various factions to establish a state based on ethnic identity. Based in £¿stanbul, the Kurdistan Forward Society had affiliate associations. Undertaking political representation of the Kurds, making studies on Kurdish language, literature, history, and supporting women to take role in the organization were some of the activities that were aimed to realise by the affiliated organizations. On the other side, it is seen that the Kurdistan Forward Society opened branches in the heavily Kurdish populated regions. The branches undertook the mission of providing a mass support among the Kurds and creating awareness in order to realize the aims of the Kurdistan Forward Society.
