%0 Journal Article %T Chinese Writing and Language Policy of People's Republic of China %A Salih I£¿£¿k %J - %D 2018 %X The subject of this paper is the history of Chinese writing, the structure of the Chinese language and the language policy of the People's Republic of China. China, one of the world's oldest civilizations with its four-thousand-year history, enlightens East Asian history with its rich written and oral sources. The Chinese writing, which shows its first examples with the "Fortune Writings", has insisted on keeping the heritage of the ancestors by refusing to go to the alphabet system, which is relatively easy in terms of the use of the People's Republic of China, even though it undergoes changes in the historical process. In China, which hosts more than 55 minority nations outside the Han nation, the unity in written language has become a fully established concept even though the unity in the language of speech has not been provided nationally. The Chinese language is the most spoken language in the world and the Chinese language is trying to keep pace with this rooted writing system. In the framework of the language policy of the People's Republic of China known as pu tong hua or Mandarin, it is challenging its own geography and also against the western languages. The Confucian Institutes opened to spread the Chinese language, entered the race to introduce the their languages and their cultures to the whole world. In this notification, the first forms of Chinese writing, the stages of change in the historical process, and the process of reaching to today will be explained. Explaining the structural form of Chinese language, attempts to protect language in the context of language politics will be exemplified by the use of "new words" and the use of new words in Chinese and other languages.
