%0 Journal Article %T A Research on the Current Structure of Beekeeping in Bingol Province %A Ersin KARAKAYA %J - %D 2019 %X This study was conducted in order to determine the current structure of beekeeping activity in Bingol province. The number of enterprises to be surveyed was determined as 87 by proportional sampling method. According to research findings; the average age of beekeepers surveyed was determined as 47.3 years. 62.1% of beekeepers stated that beekeeping is the only source of income. In general, 41.4% of the beekeepers have elementary school diploma. The reasons to start beekeeping were all beekeepers without the primary source of income (51.7%) and the father stated (28.7%). The majority of beekeepers (90.8%) stated that their colonies were increased by splitting strong colonies. 74.7% of the beekeepers stated that they changed the queen bees of the colonies every two years. Almost all of the beekeepers recognize varroa mite and larvae diseases and about 93% of the chemical are applied to fight against varroa mite. As a result; Bingol beekeeping structure is stroller beekeeping similar as in all over Turkey and it was determined that accommodation problem, the main problem like other Turkish beekeeping, is the top one of Bingol beekeeper.
