%0 Journal Article %T The latest developments in EU-Turkey Association Law: Review of ¡°Istanbul Lojistik Ltd.£¿ judgment of the European Court of Justice in case C-65/16 %A Tolga CANDAN %J - %D 2018 %X The Istanbul Lojistik judgment by the European Union Court of Justice dated October 17, 2017 was especially significant to revive the process to update the Customs Union disrupted due to political considerations. As is known, the EU-Turkey Association Law covers the free movement of the persons, goods, services. The Association Law is known by the Turkish public opinion with regard to the decisions on the free movement of the persons and visa liberalisation. Due to the negotiation process for the membership of the EU, the legal acquisitions, those were attained through the cases filed since 1987 in order to protect the rights of the Turkish citizens living in Europe, were regrettably disregarded. However the new state of affairs after the recent judgment of the Court resolving that the restrictions on the Turkish firms constituted violations of the Association Law designates the EU-Turkey Association Law as the most important legal basis in the EU-Turkish relations.
