%0 Journal Article %T Competitiveness Environments, Growth Strategies and Social Extensions of Internet Based Global Communication Companies In International Communications: Microsoft, Apple, Google and Facebook %A Zeynep KADIO£¿LU %J - %D 2019 %X The international communication order refers to a scheme that encompasses all sectors where content such as news, information, entertainment is produced and shared, and which has influence in all social areas on a local, national, and international basis. In the past, the global media companies of the traditional media have dominated the international communication order, but now the giant Internet-based communication companies have come to a strong position both economically and in terms of their influence. The widespread use of the Internet has opened the way for that information which produced on different platforms to gather in data pools. On the other hand, developing technologies and developed algorithmic models have made it possible to extract meaningful information from this data stack. All of these developments have resulted in having a gigantic database and having the right algorithmic modeling as a new power element. In 2017, the five most valuable companies in the world were Internet-based communication companies; Apple, Alphabet (Google), Microsoft, Amazon and Facebook. Many of the Internet and technology-based global businesses have grown by overcoming the monopolistic positions of old large companies, with applications and extensions that they created. Therefore, they must implement rational strategies in order to maintain their size and dominance in the international communication system. For this, following new innovative applications and purchasing these kinds of applications have been the main strategies to grow. In this article, the growth strategies of the four companies (Apple, Alphabet (Google), Microsoft, and Facebook) were examined and their comparisons were discussed comparatively in terms of their economic size and expansion areas.
