%0 Journal Article %T The Approach of Italians to Negotiations During the Lausanne Peace Conference %A Cem Apayd£¿n %J - %D 2018 %X Lausanne Peace Conference, which registered Turkey¡¯s independence in international arena, took place from 20 November 1922 to 24 July 1923. The main purpose of this conference was the establishment of peace order between the Allies and Turkey. In this sense, there were various issues and policies that each of the parties took into consideration and followed individually. Of course, among them Italy had also its own policies that safeguarded Italians¡¯ self-interests. Among the issues negotiated during the conference, Italy especially focused on the sovereignty of the islands in the Aegean Sea, the Straits regime and economic treaties. Italians tried to maintain their interests by following various strategies on all of these subjects.
