%0 Journal Article %T On the Origin of the Word Thief %A Emrah BOZOK %J - %D 2018 %X Whether or not the word thief used in Turkish is of Turkish origin is uncertain in the literature. It is determined that there is no consensus on the sources. There have also been incorrect evaluations of the word. It is necessary to solve the problem on the word of the thief. An etymology proposal for the word has been deemed necessary from a new perspective. In this subject, some sources that explain the origin of the word are given contradictory and non-language explanations; in some cases, no statement was made about the word. It would be appropriate to take the word thief from a concurrent point of view, which is seen as difficult to detect, from a point of view. The word dahil thief len was observed by including the appearance of the other Turkish tribes from the first period until the present day. It was seen that the word was not seen in other groups of Turkish language only here, like some words seen in O£¿uz group. The Oguz group was interpreted in Turkish dialects by looking at how the word was used.
