Water moving in cracks and voids in natural stones causes physical deterioration by freezing-thawing in cold climates. In this study, the physical changes in andesites in Iscehisar (Afyonkarahisar) region which are used as building stones were investigated. In the first stage, chemical, mineralogical-petrographical, pore size distribution and physico-mechanical properties of andesites were determined. In the second stage, the changes of andesites during the freeze thaw cycles were investigated by apparent density, porosity, water absorption and ultrasound velocity. Because of the freeze-thaw cycles, the andesites have decreased apparent density and ultrasonic velocities, while the porosity and water absorption rates have increased. While the ultrasound velocity was 1,89% and the apparent density decreased by 0,44%, the water absorption amount increased by 5,38% and the open porosity increased by 5,05% %K Andezit %K Donma-£¿£¿z¨¹lme %K Fiziksel £¿zellikler %K Ultrases ge£¿i£¿ h£¿z£¿ %U http://dergipark.org.tr/deumffmd/issue/44128/480695
