%X The Republic of Azerbaijan, which ranks first in terms of size and population in the South Caucasus region, has the lowest fresh water reserves compared to other countries in the region. However, one of the greatest advantages undoubtedly is the fact that Azerbaijan has a about 713 km. coastline along the Caspian Sea. Economic recession throughout the region and the impossibility of meeting traditionally high fish demand led to an increase in prices and, as a result, reduced fish consumption to 2 kg per capita. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the aquaculture industry in the country
