%0 Journal Article %T Democratic Attitudes of School Directors %A G¨¹nay Sara£¿ %A £¿brahim G¨¹l %J - %D 2018 %X The effective fulfillment of the political function of the school depends on the democratic attitudes of the principals of the schools. The purpose of this research is to investigate the democratic attitudes of school principals, according to the views of teachers. The research is based on qualitative design and the data are collected by semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers. Descriptive and content analysis are used in the analysis of the data obtained in the research. Firstly, forms filled out by interviewers are coded and numbered and then analyzed. The concepts and themes are created based on those forms. According to the findings of the research, the teachers regarded the concept of democratic attitude as "equality and equity". The majority of teachers believe that school principals do not have democratic stance. The democratic attitudes that teachers observe as incomplete in school principals, and they can be given as follows: discrimination, not being open to innovation. It is also emphasized that if the schoolmaster does not have a democratic attitude, the education will be adversely affected and trust, commitment and motivation levels of the teachers will be decreased. Teachers regarded behaviors that must be found in a democratic principal as respecting different views, acting justly and being open to innovation.
