%X After the Second World War, Political change in the Middle East had gained speed as a process of nation-building. The ideology that pioneered nationality was Arab nationalism, namely Ba¡¯thism. The aim of this article is to examine Arab nationalism as ideological and real politics and to evaluate its effect on Turkish politics. In this context, the claims of Ba¡¯ath ideology and political tendencies were evaluated over the Egyptian case . In addition, the impact of the movement on Turkey wasanalyzed with reference to a Turkish academic periodical known as Y£¿n.While it was observed that Arab nationalism was a source of inspiration for the countries that were trying to gain their independence, the close relationship between the USSR and the USA was demonstrated
