%0 Journal Article %T Reading The Text From The 5th Class Course Book %J - %D 2018 %X Textbooks are the main resource in the formal education system and often become the only educational resources for teachers and students. In general, it is the first tool used in the teaching of mother tongue, especially in teaching Turkish as a mother tongue. It also plays an important role in the successes or failures of the 5th grade students who are approaching the threshold of adolescence and who learn Turkish as their mother tongue in later parts of their lives. For this reason, the textbooks of the 5th grade, such as plain writing, poetry, puzzles and so on. the readability of all texts becomes more important. In this research, the readability levels of the narratives and informative texts of the 5th grade Turkish textbook prepared according to the program which is being applied by the Ministry of Education for the first time in the 5th grade in the academic year of 2017-2018 were measured. In the analysis of texts Atesman and £¿etinkaya-Uzun. readability formulas are used. Also included in the book are short, long, general readability tables covering all texts and poetry. As a result of the research, it is seen that the texts in the textbooks taught in the 5th grade are suitable for the target group according to the readability formulas prepared for Turkish.
