%0 Journal Article %T Use of Cone Beam Computed Tomography in Periodontology %A Katibe Tu£¿£¿e Temur %J - %D 2018 %X The diagnosis of periodontal diseases in dentistry is based primarily on conventional two-dimensional imaging methods. However, conventional imaging methods have disadvantages such as geometric distortion and anatomic masking resulting from the reduction of three-dimensional structures to two dimensions. These disadvantages have been eliminated by cone beam computed tomography, which are frequently used in current dentistry, allowing to obtain three-dimensional images. Cone beam computed tomography is a valuable imaging technique, particularly for the detection of intrabony defects, furcation involvement and buccal / lingual bone destruction.
