%0 Journal Article %T The Use of Solid State Transformer for Traction in Railway Systems %A U£¿ur Emre Do£¿ru %J - %D 2019 %X In this study, solid state transformer circuit topology which is an alternative to current conventional traction systems is investigated using simulation tools. First, conventional traction systems are investigated then the solid-state transformer topology is introduced with its advantages and disadvantages. At last, a sample load is selected for simulation. The load is a tram named silkworm (ipek b£¿cegi in Turkish) manufactured by Durmazlar. This sample load is driven with designed solid-state transformer circuit using simulation tool named PSIM. In conclusion it is seen that the proposed solid-state transformer system can drive aforementioned sample load which has direct current traction system commercially at maximum speed with needed specifications. Total efficiency of the solid state transformer system is 93%. It can be accepted that solid-state transformer circuit topologies are suitable alternatives for traction purposes %K transformator %K tahrik %K kat£¿-hal %K demiryolu %K rezonans %K £¿evirici %U http://dergipark.org.tr/demiryolu/issue/43461/566214
