In this respect utopias are both a literary genre and a form of thought. Modern utopian thought began with Thomas More. Then it spreaded to different lands. The utopian tradition in Turkish literature emerged after the 19th century. Mustafa Nazim Erzurumi's "R¨¹yada Terakki (Progress in the Dream)" is the continuation of the utopian tradition. The aim of this study is to examine little known of this work. The study also aims to examine the social conditions of the period in which the work was written. This study aims to use some concepts such as education, population in Foucault's analysis of power.
