%0 Journal Article %T Old Turks in Social Studies Course Books: Turkiye and Turkmenistan %A O£¿uzhan KARADEN£¿Z %J - %D 2018 %X The aim of this research is to examine the issues related to Old Turks in the Social Studies books of Turkey and Turkemenistan using a comparative perspective. The books of both countries are analysed on the basis of Turkish History of Central Asia. The books being used in 2016-2017 educational year are used in this study. Descriptive survey method, suitable for the nature of the study, was employed in the study. There are many sections related to Old Turks in the books of both countries. Furthermore, some varieties of visuals, maps and resources are used related to the topics. The findings of the study are presented under the titles of ¡°1- Turkish States of Central Asia, 2- Silk Road, 3- Turks and Islam, 4- Culture and Civilization¡±. Beside the majority of similarities, there are some the minority of differences in the presentation these topics. The findings of the study are thought to provide a useful perspective for the decision makers of educational policy and books.
