%0 Journal Article %T EVALUATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ACADEMIC AND SPORT ACHIEVEMENT MOTIVATION %J - %D 2018 %X The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of the relationship between academic and sports achievement motivation on athlete students according to the variables of gender, age and the year of playing sports. The sample group of the research consists in total of 167 athlete students, 86 female and 81 male, in the age group of 14-17 who receive education in Ankara TVF (Turkish Volleyball Federation) Sports High School. In the data collection process ¡°The Academic Motivation Scale¡± and ¡°Sport-Specific Achievement Motivation Scale¡± were employed. In the analysis of the obtained data, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson product-moment correlation test were used. As a result of Pearson product-moment correlation test, it was determined that there is a positive correlation between the subdimensions of ¡°intrinsic motivation (IM)-to know through motive to approach success (MAS)¡±, ¡°power of motive (POW) and MAS through IM-to accomplish¡±, ¡°POW and MAS through IM-to experience stimulation¡±, ¡°extrinsic motivation (EM)-identified regulation through MAS¡± and ¡°EM-external regulation through MAS.¡± As a result of the independent sample t-test, a significant difference between was found between the means of the scores of the sub-dimensions: ¡°EM-external regulation¡±, ¡°demotivation¡± and ¡°POW¡± according to the gender variable. As a result of one-way ANOVA analysis, a significant difference was found between the mean of the scores of the sub-dimensions: according to the variable of age ¡°EM-identified¡±, ¡°EM-external regulation¡±, ¡°demotivation¡± and ¡°MAS¡±; and according to the year of playing sport ¡°EM-identified regulation¡± and ¡°EM-external regulation¡±.
