%0 Journal Article %T Inflation in the world and in the Ottoman Empire %J - %D 2018 %X It is known that the metal coin culture spread to the world as gold and silver coins after the Lydians found the first metal coin in western Anatolia during the 6th century. Afterwards, these two minerals were mixed and other minerals were added to them. It is observed that the first inflation under the name ta£¿£¿i£¿ occurred during the rise period (1585) when metal coins were used in the Ottoman Empire. Inflation continued during the stagnation and decline period of the Ottoman Empire. 19th century was the period of external borrowing and paper money called kaime. Consecutive economic crisis and world wars created huge inflations in many countries during the 20th century. It is observed that after the 1929 economic crises, international monetary system took affect and IMF started to operate.
