%0 Journal Article %T TECHNOLOGICAL LITERACY: A HISTORICAL DESCRIPTION %A Fatih Ayd£¿n %A Yavuz Silik %J - %D 2018 %X It is an incontrovertible fact that human beings are too busy both in the past and today with technology. Particularly in today's information age, the integration of technology with different fields and innovations such as digital technologies that bring human beings into a different world generate researchs, discussions and changes. The aim of this study is to make a historical description by showing how technological literacy emerged, what the definitions and changes in this subject are, what is considered in the framework of the standards and related programs, and their reflection in the world. In the study a qualitative research method has been adopted, and in this context, the document analysis are reviewed. The historical description shows that technological literacy has been defined in different ways over the years by using various labels. It is clearly understood that standards are established, especially in the context of education, and that they are integrated into educational programs in a short period of time. Many countries have focused on technological literacy, which is regarded as the most important goal of technology education. As a result, it is clearly understood that the understanding related with technological literacy in all this presented process, is in continuous movement and change depending on development of technology and its interaction with numerous elements (society, culture, history, etc.).
