%0 Journal Article %T THE NARRATIVE OF THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD IN THE HISTORY COURSE BOOKS USED BETWEEN THE YEARS 1931-1977 IN TURKEY %A U£¿ur ¨¹NAL %A Yusuf Ziya AKTA£¿ %J - %D 2018 %X The purpose of this research is to analyze the narrative of Muhammad in history course books in depth. The document analysis method, within the qualitative approach approach, was used in the study. The data source of the research consisted of the relevant sections of the history course books, used between the years 1931-1977, in the Republican Period. The collected data were analyzed with the content analysis technique. The presentation, content, language, and style of the relevant course books were discussed in terms of their appropriateness for the pedagogical level. As a result of the analyses, it was found that the narrative of the Prophet Muhammad was affected by the historical and political conditions of the period. In addition, it was observed that an ideological language was used in the course books taught in the early period, therefore they deviated from the scientific attitude. However, it was seen that a more scientific and convenient language was used in the course books used after 1950 %K £¿slam Tarihi %K Hz.
