Investigation Of Student¡¯s Drawings In STEM Field %A Behiye Ak£¿ay %A £¿brahim Benek %J - %D 2018 %X This study, which was conducted in order to determine the mental structure of secondary school students about STEM plans, was arranged according to phenomenology pattern which is one of the qualitative research methods. In determining the study group of the research maximum diversity sampling method, which is one of the purposed sampling methods, was used. The study group consisted of 120 secondary school students attending 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades in three secondary schools with different socio-economic levels in the province of Van in the 2017-2018 academic years. The STEM Drawing Form, which was developed by the researchers, was used in the study. The students' drawings and their expressions on the drawings were analysed with descriptive analysis method. As a result of the detailed examination of the drawings made by the students, fifteen different categories were created in the same category with the same purpose and drawings. Drawings were evaluated in terms of class level and gender variables by converting them into numerical data in percent and frequency under these categories. As a result of the research, it was seen that the students designed the drawings on ¡°helping with household chores¡± category the most and on ¡°the space¡± and ¡°the lens¡± categories the least. When the students' drawings were examined according to the gender variable, it was concluded that the female students produced in ¡°helping with household chores¡± category the most and the male students produced in ¡°the car¡± category the most.
