%0 Journal Article %T CYPRUS, LOOKING FOR HER FUTURE %A Murat K£¿YL¨¹ %J - %D 2018 %X Because of its strategic position, Cyprus Island has been the center of the most important attraction of the Mediterranean and the center of the struggle of the regional powers for thousands of years. Initially seen as a place of commerce and settlement, the island has become the most important power control center of the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean over time, and this development has increased the conflict of interest on the island. After 1571, when the island passed to the Ottoman administration, the dominant struggle that started between the Turkish seafarers and the Orthodox Christians settled on the island continued until the present day with the intervention of different actors and the periodical change of dimensions and the comprehensive solutions did not seem enough to break the long resistance. The study aim isthe current state of the Cyprus problem, which is the stage for conflicts of interests of the participating states, rather than the demands and views of the people of the island until today, will be examined and evaluated in the recent developments. The study includes efforts to solve and solve the daily problems of the Turkish and Greek communities in the internal conflicts in the island since 1960.
