%X With the remarkable enhancement of China¡¯s comprehensive national power and the substantial improvement of its international status, the international and domestic situations have undergone new changes. The translation of the 20th Report, as a key link in conveying China¡¯s political philosophy and development blueprint, has received extensive attention both at home and abroad, and its English translation is of great significance to the shaping of China¡¯s image and the enhancement of international consensus. This paper intends to start from the Skopos theory, follow the principles of purpose, coherence and loyalty, and use <em>the Twentieth Congress Report</em> as the original corpus to analyse and study indepth the characteristic political vocabulary in the government¡¯s work report, and to explore its suitable translation strategies, such as literal translation and free translation, with a view to more accurately comprehending and translating the political text, comprehensively presenting China¡¯s development plan, and presenting the image of a big country with objectivity and truthfulness.
