Prins reactions and Prins cyclization reactions are important synthetic strategies that have received much attention from synthetic chemists since their discovery. The Prins reaction, a condensation reaction of aldehydes or ketones with olefins or alkynes under acid catalysis, offers an efficient avenue for the construction of carbon-carbon bonds and cyclic compounds. Characterized by high atom economy and synthetic efficiency, it has been widely employed in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and natural product molecules.
