%X 文章旨在探讨中国著名当代作家余华作品的英译本在英语国家的传播现状以及读者对其作品的接受程度。文章首先通过对余华作品九个英译本的馆藏量、读者评论量以及群众讨论度的分析,揭示了其作品英译本在英语国家的传播现状,结果显示,两部长篇小说《活着》和《十个词汇里的中国》的传播较为显著,但整体而言,余华作品的传播范围尚有待扩展。其次通过文本细读分别分析了专业读者和普通读者的书评,考察了读者对其作品英译本的接受效果,即对故事情节与人物塑造以好评为主,但语言特色褒贬不一;最后通过文学特色、人性关怀及历史背景的角度,分析了其在英语国家传播的原因:其作品简洁质朴、故事情节紧凑,充满人性关怀,且为海外读者打开了一个了解中国文化和社会的窗口。
The purpose of this paper is to explore the dissemination status of the English translations of the works of Yu Hua, a famous contemporary Chinese writer, in English-speaking countries and the readers’ acceptance of his works. The paper firstly reveals the dissemination status of the English translations of Yu Hua’s works in English-speaking countries by analyzing the number of collections, readers’ comments and the degree of public discussion of nine English translations of Yu Hua’s works. The results show that the dissemination of two full-length novels, To Live and China in Ten Words is the most widespread, and other works has yet to be expanded. Secondly, the book reviews of professional and general readers were analyzed through close reading of the text to examine the readers’ acceptance of the English translation of his works, i.e., the storyline and characterization were mainly praised, but the readers had different reviews about the linguistic features. Finally, the reasons for its spread in English-speaking countries are analyzed from the perspectives of literary characteristics, human concern and historical background: works of Yuhua secures lucid language and compact plot, and full of human concern. Title, main text, figure, table and references are defined, and this document is formatted according to the Hans standard, which illustrates all the formats.
