%X this paper is focused on a descriptive analysis of gasoline consumption to identify different consumers' behaviors among brazilian states. the sensitive analysis of gasoline demand to price variation must consider a larger set of variables. trough a traditional econometric time series approach, this paper aims at assessing the different reactions to price changes, more specifically, changes in state tax, icms, over gasoline. the tax-elasticity calculation allows us to verify the possible use of state public policies, specially concerning environmental and energy issues.
