%X the origins of spain's current macroeconomic model lie in the modernization programme of the franco dictatorship from the late 1950s, premised on the development of mass-market tourism from northern europe and the radical expansion of private home-ownership. the contradictions of the european community and the eurozone have complicated an already fragile model, with severe negative effects for spanish economy and society.
