%0 Journal Article %T PREVALENCIA DE DIABETES MELLITUS Y DISLIPIDEMIAS EN IND¨ªGENAS DEL RESGUARDO CA£¿AMOMO-LOMAPRIETA, COLOMBIA %A Cardona Arias %A Jaiberth Antonio %A Rivera Palomin %A Yennifer %A Llanes Agudelo %A Osman Mauricio %J Investigaciones Andina %D 2012 %I Fundaci¨®n Universitaria del ?rea Andina %X introduction: diabetes mellitus is a public health problem and is associated with dyslipidemia and improper lifestyles. objective: to determine the prevalence of diabetes and dyslipidemia and its association with socio-demographic determinants and riskfactors in adults from the ca£¿amomo-lomaprieta indian reservation. methods: cross-sectional study with data collected from primary sources. measurement of glucose, lipid profile, anthropometric measurements and risk factors. were observed. we estimated summary measures, proportions and confidence intervals; statistical tests bivariate and multivariate logistic regression. data stored and analyzed in spss 18.0. results: the prevalence of dyslipidemia was 68.9% and 8% diabetes; significant associations were found between diabetes and body mass index, metabolic syndrome and total obesity and dyslipidemia with age, central obesity and blood glucose. conclusion: high prevalence of diabetes, dyslipidemia and other risk factors, evidence that the indians are a group at high risk for developing cardiovascular disease. %K diabetes mellitus %K dyslipidemias %K indigenous population %K colombia. %U http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0124-81462012000100005&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
