%X this literature review article describes the autologous chondrocyte implantation (aci) process - its stages, clinical indications, surgical technique, laboratory protocol, rehabilitation and clinical outcomes. since 1994, when the aci was described for the first time, the procedure has improved to become one of the most important surgical alternatives for the treatment of chondral lesions of the knee.
