%X there is confusion with the taxonomic validity of nyctelia multicristata blanchard in hombron & jaquinot (1846). this is because kulzer (1963) in the review of the genus nyctelia, redescribed the species n. multicristata and described a new species, n. fallax, based on unclear morphological traits which most are shared with n. multicristata. morphological analysis revealed that specimens assigned to n. fallax must be synonymized with n. multicristata. both the external morphology and genitalia reveals that the morphotype n. multicristata described by kulzer corresponds to a new species.
