%X this study aimed to analyze how sexuality is built up in the academic studies of nursing students. it was developed with 14 students from a nursing graduation course in rio grande do sul. the method was characterized by a descriptive research with qualitative approach. the data was collected through the focus group technique in the period of may and june 2009. the theme analysis was applied in order to interpret the data. concerning the nurse academic studies towards sexuality, this topic has been discussed from a character of event and informality and approached from a perspective of neutrality, prohibitions and sterilization. it is recommended that sexuality is treated as a nursing study topic and an inherent phenomenon to every human being.
