%X we explore the relationship between history and memory, as well as the link between the academic discourses and the emergence of socially valued stories within a given community. the analysis of interviews conducted in the village of purmamarca (quebrada de humahuaca, jujuy, argentina), allow us discuss how, through the stories told about historical events, a people's social memory is constructed, including divergent narratives.
