%X six species of the genus encyclia are accepted in the distrito federal, goi¨¢s and tocantins (brazil): e. argentinensis, e. chapadensis, e. cyperifolia, e. gonzalezii, e. linearifolioides and e. osmantha. all the specimens were collected in the cerrado biome. in total 42 names were analyzed. two synonyms, four lectotypes and two epitypes are proposed. a name is presented as invalid, four are superfluous and four are "nomen nudum". thirteen names are excluded from treatment and twenty-one are presented as invalid and three are registered as a possible occurrence.
