%X the proem of the "odyssey", apparently loosely composed, actually presents - basing itself precisely upon multiformity - information that is essential to the development of action and the characterization of its main hero. starting with some possible meanings for "pol¨²tropos" (v.1), this paper tries to elucidate the main formulations and movements displayed by this beginning and so demonstrate that it fully anticipates important coordinates of the "odyssey".
