%X this article analyses the legend of the infantes de lara where the female characters play a preeminent role which is especially apparent in the spanish romances. in fact, the romances dealing on this subject evince in their formal construction a specific interpretation according to which lambra and sancha occupy central positions in the family crisis and in the preservation of the family lineage.
