%X men and cooking are words that are seldom heard together, especially when in reference to a rural scenario in the south of the mexican state of quintana roo. what is referred to here as a "culinary masculinity" emerges from a series of social conditions. the main goal of this article is to render visible the fact that men, in their working and daily lives, are emerging cooks; it also analyzes the conditions under which models of males who go beyond the "exclusive" tasks of their gender emerge and are legitimized.
