%X in colombia, the waters of rivers like the magdalena have become stages for the exposure of terror and loss. however, in this essay i want to propose an alternative approach to water and its relation to violence. based on the process of fermentation, both as metaphor and material reality, i suggest the possibility of imagining a form of sensual memory brought about by the interaction with waters that contain residues of terror. for this i rely on a series of ethnographic fragments and photographs of daily life in the town of nueva venecia, where water impregnated by the residues of a massacre trickles through spaces, instances and stages of the everyday life. these moments open up the possibilities of understanding this relationship with water and its residues as part of a narrative of memory rather than oblivion
