%0 Journal Article %T Patrimonio industrial: Un futuro para el pasado desde la visi¨®n europea %A ¨˘lvarez-Areces %A Miguel ¨˘ngel %J Apuntes: Revista de Estudios sobre Patrimonio Cultural - Journal of Cultural Heritage Studies %D 2008 %I Pontificia Universidad Javeriana %X as an introduction to industrial heritage this paper addresses different meanings and relevant facts that make it an essential issue in heritage contexts, beginning with industrial archeology as an academic discipline. in the 1970s, valuing landscapes and territories and considering industrial heritage as a new heritage category stirred public awareness. later on, inventories, conservation, preservation and redeveloping industrial heritage policies were developed, valuing it at first as isolated objects and later on as ensembles. today, the main issue is that communities need to recognize the value of the industrial heritage ensembles and landscapes. at present, the world heritage list includes more than 50 industrial heritage sites, and more efforts are being made to include these objects in local development plans. %K industrial heritage %K industrial architecture %K post-industrial landscapes %K cultural industries %K industrial museums. %U http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S1657-97632008000100002&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
