%0 Journal Article %T Liderazgo transaccional y transformacional %A ROZO MOGOLL¨®N %A SANDRA MILENA %A ABAUNZA DE GONZ¨¢LEZ %A MYRIAM %J Avances en Enfermer¨ªa %D 2010 %I Universidad Nacional de Colombia %X leadership is defined as the process of leading and influence on the working activities of a group and is recognized as a fundamental component that affect the general effectiveness of an organization. this study targets to establish the relation between the various types of transformational and transactional leadership and the socio-demographic and working variables associated with professors of nursing programs of the colombian northeastern area, by means of a relational descriptive study involving a population of 94 nursing professors. a short version of the mlq-5x based on the theory of bass and avolio on transformational and transactional leadership and their dimensions was applied. results show a transformational leadership with a high-ranking trend and a transactional leadership with a low-ranking trend. as for the socio-demographic variable for the category of the civil status married/cohabitation was found to bear more relation to the transformational leadership, while the category of single/divorced professors is more associated with low transformational leadership, but this relation is very week considering how infrequent this civil status is among nursing professors. as a main conclusion, nursing professors exercise more transformational leadership than transactional, however, none of them is exclusive. %K nursing %K leadership %K faculty schools. %U http://www.scielo.org.co/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0121-45002010000200006&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
