%X this paper presents elements in the freudian thought to point how his theory not only accepts and contains considerations about tragedy, but also locates the psyche in a theoretical system that depends on the tragic meaning of life. some aspects of freud's work links with sophocles' text - oedipus tyrannus - and are considered to clarify this dimension of the freudian thought and lead to a construction of a dialogue between freud aristotle. the aristotelian concept of, fault, is the nucleus of a possible articulation of his conception of tragedy and what concerns the tragic dimension of life in the freudian thought.
